Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History is an undergraduate course in History, provided by many colleges of Delhi University. These colleges are:-

  • Jesus and Mary College
  • Hindu College
  • Hansraj College
  • Daulat Ram College

Course Details: It’s a 3-year full-time programme consisting 6 semesters i.e. 2 semesters/year.


Eligibility: 10+2 in any discipline, from a recognized college or Board with min. 50% marks or equivalent.

Scope


There are many future scopes/aspects that you can choose from, after having a B.A. (Hons.) degree in History. Some are:

Academics (you can opt for higher studies to get depth knowledge such as

  • MA in History
  • Phil. in History
  • PhD. in History etc

After these, you can choose a career in teaching/lectureship or can go for research work in History, Historical monuments, scripts, languages and many antiques).

Also, if you aspire to be a civil servant after clearing UPSC Civil Services Examination, this course would be very beneficial to you as History is relevant to both PRE as well as Mains category of this Exam.

Salary around 3.5 lakh per annum but can go up to 6.5 lakh per annum.

ACI (Archaeological Survey of India:- if you are keen to learn and know about History more and more while doing your job and getting paid for the same.

Semester 4- History of India-IV (c. 1206-1550), Rise of Modern West-II, History Of The United States Of History Of The USSR (c. 1917 – 1964s) or America (C. 1776 – 1945) or History Of Southeast Asia – The 20th Century or History Of Latin America (c. 1500 – 1960s), Concurrent – Discipline Centered I

Semester 5- History of India-V (c. 1550-1605), History of Modern Europe I (c. 1780-1939), History of India-VI (c. 1750-1857), History of China & Japan – I (c. 1840-1949)

Semester 6- History of India-VII (c. 1605-1750), History of India-VIII (c. 1857-1950), History of China & Japan – II (c. 1840-1949), History of Modern Europe –II (1780-1939), Concurrent – Discipline Centered II
