UPSC IES 2020: Notification, Apply, Exam Date Result Cut off


Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified for the vacancy of the post of Indian Engineering Services (IES). Candidates who possess Degree / Diploma (Engineering )/ Master’s Degree in the relevant stream as mentioned in details of recruitment notification for the post of IES 2020, may apply online for the same through the given web link on this web page. There is a total of 581 vacant seats available for the post of Indian Engineering Services.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in the preliminary exam, mains exam followed by the personality test. Candidates are required to pay the Application fee of Rs. 200/- only, which can be paid through net banking or deposited in any branch of SBI. SC/ST/PH/ and female candidates do not need to pay any fee for UPSC IES examination. Minimum age of Candidate for UPSC IES examination should be 21 years but it should not be upper than 30 years as on 01/01/2019. Interested and eligible candidates may apply online against this UPSC advt no. 01/2020 from 25th of September to 15th of October, 2018. Candidates are suggested to download admit card for the IES preliminary examination to take participate in the examination. UPSC IES Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates applying for the Indian Engineering Services must satisfy the following eligibility criteria.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit

  • Candidate must be the citizen of India.
  • Minimum age limit of the candidate must be 21 years and maximum 30 years (reserved category 35 years) as on August 01, 2020.
  • Candidate must have obtained his/her Degree/Diploma in Engineering from any recognized university.
  • Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Engineering Services Examination.
  • The medical examination will be conducted at various Railway Hospitals under the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) to check if the candidate is fit or not.

More Details about the UPSE IES Prelim Exam

  • The preliminary exam is an objective paper consists of 2 Papers.
  • There will be negative marking of 1/3rd or 0.33 of the marks for every incorrect answer to the questions.
  • If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of them is correct.
  • No marks will be deducted or awarded for unanswered questions.

Mains & Interview Exam Pattern

Mains exam will be subjective and there will be two papers for 300 marks each. Each paper will be of 3 hours. Questions from the respective discipline will be asked.
