Solution

The correct construction is Neither X nor Y. 'Which have neither profitable' is wrong construction, in this case the right construction should be which have neither been X nor been Y. This rules out B and C. In D, the verb 'serve' should be used in 'ing' form. To understand this break down the sentence in two parts, close down the unit which are not profitable and close down the unit which are not serving any social cause. The right answer is E.
