Solution

Let Mr. Sharma initially has Rs. $100x$

Amount received by Mr. Sharma and his wife (%) = 12 + 22 = 34%

=> Remaining amount (%) = 100 - 34 = 66%

= $\frac{66}{100} \times 100x = 66x$

Acc. to ques,

=> $(\frac{8}{8 + 7} \times 66x) - (\frac{7}{8 + 7} \times 66x) = 3806$

=> $\frac{66x}{15} = 3806$

=> $x = \frac{3806 \times 15}{66}$

=> $x = 865$

$\therefore$ Total amount that Mr. Sharma has = 100 * 865 = Rs. 86,500
