The population of a state is counted after every three years. It is found that the population each time is increased by 20% as compared to the previous count. If the population in the year 1998 was 42 lakhs, what will be the population in the year 2007 ?

Solution

Population of the state in 1998 = 42 lakhs.
Population of the state in 2001 = 42*120% = 50.4 lakhs
Population of the state in 2004 = 50.40*120% = 60.48 lakhs
Therefore, population of the state in 2007 = 60.48*1.2 = 72.576 lakhs

Solution

Population of the state in 1998 = 42 lakhs.
Population of the state in 2001 = 42*120% = 50.4 lakhs
Population of the state in 2004 = 50.40*120% = 60.48 lakhs
Therefore, population of the state in 2007 = 60.48*1.2 = 72.576 lakhs
