Pessimist- a person who tends to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen

Stuck- fixed, puzzled

Excited- filled with joy

Irritated- annoyed

The sentence conveys that the person got ‘puzzled’ and some other person told him the way to proceed. Thus, ‘stuck’ is the most suitable word, according to the context of the sentence.
