Let A = a so B = 50% of a = a/2 and C = 16.67% of a/2 = 1/6 × a/2 = a/12

A + B + C = a + a/2 + a/12 = 38

⇒ 19a/12 = 38

⇒ a = 24

∴ Smallest number, C = a/12 = 24/12 = 2
