The idiom ‘stealing the thunder’ means' taking attention away from someone else’s efforts'. Thus, the correct answer is option number 2.

Some other similar idioms are as follows:

  • 'Steal the limelight' means 'to get more attention than anyone or anything else in a situation'
E.G. Despite Anne's brilliant performance, Karen's act stole the limelight.$

  • ?$'Steal the show' means 'to attract the most attention and praise.'$

E.G. $All the dancers were good, but the16-year-old Manisha stole the show.
