I. 2x2 + 9x - 180 = 0

⇒ 2x2 + 24x - 15x - 180 = 0

⇒ 2x (x + 12) - 15(x + 12) = 0

⇒ (x + 12) (2x - 15) = 0

⇒ x = -12 or 15/2

II. 3y2 + 7y - 110 = 0

⇒ 3y2 + 22y - 15y - 110 = 0

⇒ y (3y + 22) -5(3y + 22) = 0

⇒ (3y + 22) (y - 5) = 0

⇒ y = - 22/3 or 5

When x = -12, x < y for y = -22/3 and x < y for y = 5.

And when x = 15/2, x > y for y = -22/3 and x > y for y = 5

∴ No relation can be established between x and y
