A solid sphere of radius 6 cm is placed in a hollow cylinder of height 10 cm. Find the volume of the empty space?

We know that,

Volume of Sphere = 4/3 πr3

Volume of Cylinder = πr2h

⇒ Volume of hollow space = Volume of Cylinder - Volume of Sphere

⇒ Volume of hollow space = πr2h - 4/3 πr3 = πr2(h - 4r/3)

⇒ Volume of hollow space = π × 62 × (10 - 8) = 72π
