The students of a University have an option to study only Physics, only Biotechnology or a composite subject Biophysics. Out of the 385 students in the school, boys and girls are in the ratio of 5 : 6 respectively. 20% of boys have opted for only Physics. 40% of the students have opted for only Biotechnology. Out of the total number of girls 60% have opted for the Biophysics. The number of boys who opted for only Biotechnology and that for Biophysics are in the ratio of 3 : 2 respectively.What is the ratio between the number of boys who have opted for only Physics and the number of girls who have opted for the Biophysics respectively?

Total number of boys = 5/11 × 385 = 175
∴ Total number of girls = 385 – 175 = 210
Number of boys who opted only for physics = 175 × 20% = 35
Remaining boys = 175 – 35 = 140
The number of boys who opted for only Biotechnology and that for Biophysics are in the ratio of 3 : 2 respectively.
∴ Number of boys who opted for Biotechnology = 3/5 × 140 = 84
∴ Number of boys who opted for Biophysics = 140 – 84 = 56
Now, 40% of the students have opted for only Biotechnology.
∴ Number of students who opted for Biotechnology = 385 × 40% = 154
∴ Number of Girls who opted for Biotechnology = 154 – 84 = 70
Number of girls who opted for Biophysics = 210 × 60% = 126
Number of girls who opted for Physics = 210 – 70 – 126 = 14
