Speed of train = 72 kmph

Speed of train in meter per second = $(\frac{{72 \times 1000}}{{3600}})$ = 20 m/sec

As we know when a train crosses a man it travels about its length.

Then, time taken by train to travel it length is time required to cross a man.

∴ Distance traveled by train = Speed × Time taken

⇒ Length of train = 20 × 8

⇒ Length of train = 160 meters.

∴ Length of train is 160 meters.
