Correct option - 4

Firstly, let's find out the meaning of "thwart" :-prevent (someone) from accomplishing something; stop; hinder.

Now, find the meaning of "balk": -hesitate or be unwilling to accept an idea or undertaking.

Clearly, option 4 i.e. assist (to help) is the most opposite in meaning.
