The error lies in part B of the sentence. Hence, the answer is option 2.

'$Dire’ is an adjective used to describe the noun ‘need’ and it indicates a serious or urgent need here. However, the phrase ‘dire need for’ is incorrect and the correct way of using ‘dire need’ is by attaching the word ‘of’ after ‘need’. $

Hence, the correct sentence will be, $‘He is in dire need of medical treatment’, which means that he urgently requires medical treatment.
