A man travelled at 40 kmph. Had he increased his speed by 16 kmph, he would have covered 80 km more in the same time.
Find the actual distance travelled?
Let the distance covered at 40 kmph be x km
⇒ Time = distance/speed = x/40
Given that as he increased his speed by 16 kmph, then he covered 80 km more
⇒ Time = (x + 80)/(40 + 16)
⇒ Time = (x + 80)/(56)
Also given that time is same in both the cases
⇒ x/40 = (x + 80)/56
⇒ 56x = 40x + 3200
⇒ 16x = 3200
⇒ x = 200 km
∴ Actual distance covered = 200 km
