The error lies in part C of the sentence as the verb 'influencing' after the preposition 'to' has been used. The transitive form of the verb must be used so the correct form is 'to influence.' Thus option 3 is the correct answer.

Correct sentence - By working on ourselves instead of worrying about conditions, we were able to influence the conditions.$
