I. x2 – 0.15x – 0.07 = 0

⇒ x2 + 0.2x – 0.35x – 0.07 = 0

⇒ x(x + 0.2) – 0.35(x + 0.2) = 0

⇒ (x + 0.2) (x – 0.35) = 0

Thus, x = – 0.2, 0.35

II. y2 – 0.75y + 0.14 = 0

⇒ y2 – 0.4y – 0.35y + 0.14 = 0

⇒ y(y – 0.4) – 0.35(y – 0.4) = 0

⇒ (y – 0.35) (y – 0.4) = 0

Thus, y = 0.35 or 0.4

So, when x = – 0.2, for y = 0.35, then x < y and when x = – 0.2, for y = 0.4, then x < y

And when x = 0.35, for y = 0.35, then x = y and when x = 0.35, for y = 0.4, then x < y

∴ We can observe that x ≤ y
