Statement I:

5x – 35/x = 18

⇒ 5x2 – 18x – 35 = 0

5x2 – 25x + 7x – 35 = 0

5x (x – 5) + 7 (x – 5) = 0

x = 5 or x = - 7/5

Statement II:

25y2 + 110y + 121 = 0

25y2 + 55y + 55y + 121 = 0

5y (5y + 11) + 11 (5y + 11) = 0

y = - 11/5

∴ y < x
