One cubic meter of mild steel weights about 7850 kg.

Therefore,

weight of the rod = volume of the rod × density of the material

weight of the rod = Cross – section of the rod × length of the rod × density of the material

Weight of the rod $(= {\rm{\;}}\frac{\pi }{4} \times {\left( {\frac{{20}}{{1000}}} \right)^2} \times 1 \times 7850 = 2.47\;{\rm{kg}})$
