A contract is to be completed in 50 days and 105 men were set to work, each working 8 hour a day. After 25 days, 2/5th of the work is finished. How many additional men should be employed so that the work may be completed on time, each man now working 9 hour a day?

Let the work to be finished be W units.

Let’s assume that the work finished by one man in one hour is M units.

⇒ 2W/5 = 105M × 25 × 8

⇒ W = 52500M

To complete the remaining work, let the additional number of men be X. The time remaining is 25 days.

⇒ 3W/5 = (105 + X) M × 25 × 9

⇒ 52500 = 375X + 39375

⇒ X = 35
