Given,

A can complete the work in hours = 5 × 8 = 40 hours

B can complete the work in hours = 6 × 10 = 60 hours

A's 1 hour's work = 1/40

B's 1 hour's work = 1/60

(A + B)’s 1 hour's work = (1/40) + (1/60) = 1/24

Both will finish work in 24 days.

Number of days of 8 hours a day = 24 × 1/8 = 3

∴ They require 3 days to complete the work.
