A can do a certain job in 36 days. When A and B work together, they can do the same job in 9 days. Thus, B is:
1). As efficient as A
2). Twice as efficient as A
3). Thrice as efficient as A
4). Four times as efficient as A
A’s 1 day work = 1/36
(A + B)’s 1 day work = 1/9
B’s 1 day work = 1/9 – 1/36 = 1/12
Hence, B can do the job alone in 12 days
∴ B is 36/12 = 3 times (thrice) as efficient as A
