Assume that the efficiency of a man = M units of work/day, the efficiency of a woman = W units of work/day & total work = T units

In 14 days total work done by 2 men = 14 × 2 × M = 28M units

Similarly, in 14 days total work done by 1 woman = 14 × 1 × W = 14W units

According to the question, 2 men and 1 woman together can complete a piece of work in 14 days.

∴ 28M + 14W = T ________ (1)

4 women and 2 men together can do the work in 8 days.

Using the same method used above we get,

(4 × W × 8) + (2 × M × 8) = T

⇒ 32W + 16M = T _________ (2)

From (1) & (2) we can write,

28M + 14W = 32W + 16M

⇒ 12M = 18W

⇒ W = ?M

We know that, efficiency is directly proportional to payment. In other words a more efficient man earns more.

∴ Wage of a woman = ? × wage of a man

⇒ Wage of a woman = ? × Rs. 900/day

⇒ Wage of a woman =Rs. 600 /day
