Pradeep has done 1/4th of a job in 14 days, Saquib completes the rest of the job in 56 days. In how many days can they together complete the job?


1). 64 days
2). 32 days
3). 16 days
4). 8 days

We know that,

Work done = Efficiency × Time taken

Let’s assume the total work done to be ‘1’, Pradeep’s efficiency be ‘P’ and Saquib’s efficiency be ‘S’

According to the given information,

⇒ P × 14 = ¼

⇒ P = 1/56

⇒ S × 56 = ¾

⇒ S = 3/224

If they work together, let’s assume they take ‘T’ days.

⇒ (P + S) × T = 1

⇒ (1/56 + 3/224) × T = 1

⇒ ((4 + 3)/224) × T = 1

⇒ T = 224/7

∴ T = 32 days
