Let original CP of 1kg = Rs. 1000                                 ---(1)

Now, as he uses 800g weight for 1kg,

SP of 800g = Rs. 1000

⇒ SP of 1000g (1kg) = 1000 × 1000/800

⇒ SP of 1kg = Rs. 1250                                                   ---(2)

∴ From 1 and 2,

Profit for 1kg = SP – CP

= 1250 – 1000

= Rs. 250

∴ Profit% = 100 × Profit/CP

= 100 × 250/1000

Thus, he makes a profit of 25%
