Let the speeds of the Swatantrata & Samvidhaan express be x m/s and y m/s respectively.

∴ Length of the first train = Distance covered in crossing stationary pole = 70x m

& Length of the second train = Distance covered in crossing pole = 55y m.

Relative speed = (x + y) m/s

While crossing each other distance covered = 60(x +y) m

Also, the distance covered while crossing each other is the sum of the lengths of the two trains.

∴ 60 (x + y) = 70x + 55y

⇒ 5y = 10x

∴y = 2x

∴ The respective ratio of their speeds = 1 ? 2
