Fractional distillation is the process by which alcohol-water (miscible liquids) mixture can be separated.
It is based on the fact that different liquids have different boiling points. Alcohol has a lower boiling point than water, therefore, if the mixture is heated at a temperature greater than the boing point of ethanol but less than that of water, all the alcohol will vaporize and only water will remain.
Sublimation is the process by which a solid directly transitions into gas phase without getting converted to liquid first.
Evaporation is the process by which a liquid transitions into gas due to an increase in the temperature.
Decantation is the process by which two immiscible liquids are separated from the mixture.
