Pattern → × 3, ÷ 2, × 3, ÷ 2…

8 × 3 = 24,

24 ÷ 2 = 12,

12 × 3 = 36,

36 ÷ 2 = 18,

18 × 3 = 54

Hence the missing number is 36.
