A 220 m long train crosses another 270 m long train running in the opposite direction in 27 seconds. If the speed of the first train is 40 km/h, then what is the speed of the second train in km/h?
1). 30
2). 76/3
3). 70/3
4). 20
Let the speed of second train be x
Speed of first train = 40 km/h = 40 × (5/18) = 100/9 m/s
⇒ Relative speed = (100/9) + x
Total distance = 220 + 270 = 490 m
Time of crossing = Total distance/relative speed
⇒ 27 = 490/ {(100/9) + x}
∴ x = 190/27 m/s = (190/27) × (18/5) = 76/3 km/h
