Given,

Speeds of a boat along the current and against the current are 28 km/hr and 16 km/hr respectively.

Speed downstream = 28 km/hr

Speed upstream = 16 km/hr

Speed of the current = 1/2 × (speed downstream - speed upstream)

Speed of the current = 1/2 × (28 - 16) = 12/2 = 6

∴ Speed of the current is 6 km/hr.
