In a group of 5 persons, 4 person spent Rs 500 each for their shopping and remaining one spent Rs 100 more than the average expenditure of all the 5 persons. Find total expenditure for their shopping.

Let the fifth person expenditure be Rs x

According to the question

⇒ {(500 × 4) + x}/5 + 100 = x

⇒ x = 625

∴ Total expenditure of all five persons = 500 × 4 + 625 = Rs. 2625
