Solution :

Let the number of boys be 'x' and number of girls be 'y'.

Given :    x : y = 8 : 5

 Number of girls = 160

So, x / y = 8 / 5

x / 160 = 8 / 5

x / 32 = 8 

x = 8 × 32

x = 256

Total strength of the class = 160 + 256

= 416

So, the correct option is D ). 416
