36 seems correct.

36 pens Sp of 90 pens =160 RS. Sp of1 pen =160/90 Cp = 160*100/(90*80)=20/9 Profit on CP=20% Now let x pen have been bought Cp for x pens =96*100/120 Now 20/9=96*100/(120*x) x=36
