Cochin University of Science & Technology was initially constituted as University of Cochin through an Act of the Government of Kerala on 10th July 1971. The University of Cochin was reconstituted as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986

CUSAT conducts a common admission test every year to take admission in various courses offered by the University. CUSAT CAT 2019 Engineering Entrance Exam is for all non-medical students who wish to pursue their career in the field of engineering.

Educational Qualification

Minimum educational qualifications required to appear or get admission in Cochin University of Science and Technology Engineering course.

Students are suggested to apply only if they fulfil all the requisite qualifications.

1. Pass in Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a separate minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
2. Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
3. SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination

CUSAT offers engineering course in 11 different streams. Students as per their rank in the CUSAT CAT 2019 can choose the branch in counselling.

These branches may be increased or decreased as per the University rules.

CUSAT CAT Engineering Entrance Exam 2021 Exam Pattern

The test comprises of 250 objective type multiple choice questions based on Plus Two syllabus. Out of these 250 questions,

1. 125 will be from Mathematics,
2. 75 from Physics and
3. 50 from Chemistry.

The duration of the test will be three hours.

A separate minimum score of 10 marks in each of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is compulsory for being qualified to be included in the rank list.

This requirement of minimum marks, however, will not be applicable for candidates coming under Kerala Scheduled Caste and Kerala Scheduled Tribe communities.

Scoring and Negative Marking

For each right answer Three (3) marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer, one (1) mark will be deducted.

The CAT score will be calculated as per the formula, S = 3R - 1W, where S is the CAT score, R is the number of right answers and W is the number of wrong answers.

Scholarship

50% of Tuition Fee will be offered a Scholarship to 10% of the Students with higher CAT rank in each branch of Study at CUCEK
