Solution

Let the maximum marks be M
Since Jaswinder secured 612 marks and failed by 108 marks So she would have passed if she secured 612 +108= 720 marks
which is equal to 45% of the maximum marks
So
0.45M = 720
M =$\frac{720}{0.45}$ = 1600
So the maximum marks of the examination is 1600.
