Ratio of income of C and D = 3 ? 2 = 15 ? 10

Also,

Ratio of income of D and E = 5 ? 4 = 10 ? 2

Let income of C, D and E be 15x, 10x and 8x respectively

According to the question

⇒ (1/3) of 15x = (1/2) of 8x + 4000

⇒ 5x = 4x + 4000

⇒ x = 4000

∴ D’s income = 10x = 10 × 4000 = 40,000
