Let the speed of current be M km/hr.

Speed in still water = 6 km/h

Speed upstream = 6 – M

Given,

⇒ 3(6 – M) = 6

⇒ 18 – 3M = 6

⇒ 3M = 12

⇒ M = 4 km/h

∴ Speed of current is 4 km/h.
