A 75 liters solution contained curd-milk and water in the ratio 3 ∶ 2. 22.5 liters of the mixture was spilled by the servant and to avoid being scolded, he replaced that spilled amount with pure curd - milk. What is the ratio of curd - milk and water in the mixture?
Total volume of mixture = 75 l
Total volume of curd - milk initially = 75 × (3/5) = 45 liters
Total volume of water in mixture = 30 liters
After removing 22.5 liters of mixture, curd - milk and water are also removed proportionately. It means 13.5 liters of curd - milk and 9 liters of water is removed.
After replacement, amount of curd - milk in mixture = 45 - 13.5 + 22.5 = 54 liters
Amount of water in the mixture = 30 - 9 = 21 liters
∴ New ratio is 18 ? 7.
