Ramu and Shamu together earn Rs. 500 per day, while Shamu and Kalu together earn Rs. 450 per day. If Shamu, Ramu and Kalu, working together earn Rs. 700 per day, then calculate the ratio of one day’s work of Shamu and Kalu?
1). 4 ∶ 5
2). 1 ∶ 1
3). 5 ∶ 4
4). 3 ∶ 5
Let the daily wages of Ramu, Shamu and Kalu be Rs. X, Rs. Y and Rs. Z respectively
⇒ X + Y + Z = 700 ---- (1)
⇒ X + Y = 500 ---- (2)
⇒ Y + Z = 450 ---- (3)
Substituting eq. (2) in (1),
⇒ 500 + Z = 700
⇒ Z = Rs. 200
Substituting eq. (3) in (1),
⇒ 450 + X = 700
⇒ X = Rs. 250
Substituting in eq. (2),
⇒ Y = 500 – 250 = Rs. 250
∴ Ratio of Shamu and Kalu’s one day’s work = Ratio of their daily wages = Y ? Z = 250 ? 200 = 5 ? 4
