Below, a passage is given with ten blanks labelled (A)-(J). Below the passage, four options are given for each blank. Choose the word that fits each blank appropriately in the context of the passage, and mark the corresponding answer.

As the world becomes more and more interconnected, technology has begun to be considered as a convenient and useful tool for communication between individuals, a situation that has ___(A)___ participation in some of the engagements that were challenging sometimes. The appropriate word is granted because 'taken for granted' is an idiom which means to 'take [someone, something] for granted- to underestimate the value of that person or thing.' In other words, to expect someone or something to be always available (such as to serve us without us needing to give recognition or thanks). In short, to give little or no value to that person or thing because we think we automatically deserve it.   $

The rest of the options are irrelevant as they mean:

Punctilious=> marked by precise accordance with details

Benign=> gentle and kind

Carped=> complained or found fault continually about trivial matters

Pedantic=> excessively concerned with minor details or rules; overscrupulous

Hence the correct answer is option 1.
