Length of train = 280 meters.

Speed of train = 72 kmph

$(= \frac{{72 \times 1000}}{{3600}}\;{\rm{m}}/{\rm{s}})$

= 20 m/s

As train crosses platform distance covered by train is equal to sum of length of platform and length of train.

∴ Total distance covered by train while crossing platform = 280 + 220

∴ Total distance covered by train while crossing platform = 500 meters.

Time taken by train to cover 500 meters = $(\frac{{Distance\;covered}}{{speed\;of\;train}})$

Time taken by train to cover 500 meters = 500/20 = 25 sec

∴ Train takes 25 seconds to cross platform.
