I. 3x2 – 8x + 4 = 0

⇒ 3x2 – 6x – 2x + 4 = 0

⇒ 3x(x – 2) – 2(x – 2) = 0

⇒ (3x – 2) (x – 2) = 0

⇒ x = 2/3, 2

II. 6y2 – 5y + 1 = 0

⇒ 6y2 – 3y – 2y + 1 = 0

⇒ 3y (2y – 1) – 1(2y – 1) = 0

⇒ (2y – 1) (3y – 1) = 0

⇒ y = 1/2, 1/3

When x = 2/3, y = 1/2, then x > y

When x = 2/3, y = 1/3, then x > y

When x = 2, y = 1/2, then x > y

When x = 2, y = 1/3, then x > y

∴ x and y are related as x > y
