Let the total work be W.

Let the time taken by the boy to complete the work alone b x.

Speed of the man to complete the work = W/16

Speed of the boy to complete the work = W/x

Work done by man and boy together for 12 days,

⇒ $(W\; = \;\left( {\frac{W}{{16}} + \frac{W}{x}} \right)12)$

⇒ x = 48 days

∴ Ratio of the time taken to complete the work by the man and boy = 16 : 48

∴ The money will also be divided in this ratio

∴ Boy’s share = (80/48) × 12 = Rs. 20
