The pattern of the given number series is as:

⇒ 12

⇒ 12 × 3 – 3 = 33,

⇒ 33 × 3 – 3 = 96,

⇒? 96 × 3 – 3 = 285,

⇒ 288 × 3 – 3 = 852,

⇒ 852 × 3 – 3 = 2553

Hence, the required term is 285.
