The series follows the rule as given below:

Alphabet → Symbol → sum of the numbers in previous set and difference of the numbers in previous set.

Alphabet is following the pattern of:

E  + 3 → H

H + 2 → J

J + 3 → M

M + 2 → O

E @ 53 → 5 + 3 = 8 → 5 - 3 = 2 (the number in next term in series is 82)

H $ 82 → 8 + 2 = 10 → 8 - 2 = 6 (the number in next term in series is 106)

J % 106 → 10 + 6 = 16 → 10 - 6 = 4 (the number in next term in series is 164)

M & 164 → 16 + 4 = 20 → 16 - 4 = 12 (the number in next term in series is 164)

Hence, the answer is M & 164 .
