Curing of Concrete:

  1. Availability of enough moisture in concrete is the necessary condition for uninterrupted hydration process.
  2. Since, evaporation of water takes place from the surface of concrete.
  3. To recover the loss of water from the surface of concrete and to prevent the migration of water from the interior of concrete to surface of concrete, certain measures are adopted.
  4. Such measures taken are generally called curing of concrete.

The Curing of a concrete for long time ensures better

  1. amount of moisture for continued hydration
  2. development of strength,
  3. volume stability,
  4. resistance to freezing and thawing, and
  5. abrasion and scaling resistance
