Covalent bonds are formed by atoms sharing electrons to form bonds that hold the atoms together in a molecule. This type of bond usually formed between two non–metallic elements. Nitrogen, being a non-metal, has 5 electron is its outer shell. So to make the atom count 8 in order to get stabilized, 2 nitrogen atom would share 3 atoms each with each another, thus forming 3 pairs. These bonds which are then formed are known triple covalent bond.
