Let a be the speed from Shimla to Manali

⇒ Speed from Manali to Shimla = 60 miles/hour

Here, both the ways, he covers the same distance

Then, formula for constant - speed = 2v1v2/(v1 + v2)

Here, v1 = a and v2 = 60

Also, given,

Average speed = 72 km/hour

⇒ 2(a)(60)/(a + 60) = 72

⇒ 120a = 72(a + 60)

⇒ 120a = 72a + 4320

⇒ 48a = 4320

⇒ a = 90

∴ The speed of car from Shimla to Manali is 90 km/h
