Part of tank filled by the pipe in one hour = 1/14

Part of tank filled by the pipe with a leak in its bottom in one hour = 1/16

Part of tank the leak can empty the tank in one hour = (1/14) – (1/16) = 1/112

∴ Time taken by the leak to empty the tank = 1/(1/112) = 112 days
