Let us first understand the meaning of the words:

To apprehend means to arrest someone for a crime.$

To undermine means to threaten or weaken the power or ability of someone.

To conquer means to successfully overcome a problem or weakness.$

To subvert means to undermine the power and authority of $someone. 

The only apt options here that can make the sentence meaningful are undermine or subvert, viz, B and D. 

Therefore, the correct answer is option 3.
